It makes the daily run over the Pennsylvania Railroad System between New York and Chicago in 20 hours; Philadelphia and Chicago in 18-1/4 hours." Depicted here pulling an eight-car consist is PRR engine #646, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during March of 1918 and retired in November of 1957 after 39 years of faithful service. Partially visible at the left is PRR engine #5880, an EP-20 built by GM-EMD in April of 1949 and rated at 2,000 horsepower.

Description:  Blackhawk. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Mayer Pearlman that was taken in South Amboy, New Jersey, perhaps in 1956. Photo Caption: "Pair of Pennsylvania K-4's at South Amboy, N.J." Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #3752 and #646. Both are K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacifics" built in Juniata. #3752 was built during April of 1920 and retired in April of 1958, while #646 was built during March of 1918 and retired in November of 1957. This photo comes from a color slide set entitled "Railroads Around New York" that's produced by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (254-17).
