CB&Q GP20 915
Description:
Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad GP20 915 westbound at Aurora, Illinois on July 10, 1965, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. The CB&Q acquired a total of 36 GP20's (#'s 900-935, later, BN #'s 2036-2071), taking advantage of EMD's trade-in offer. The Q sent its FT's to EMD and various components were removed from the FT's, remanufactured, and used in the GP20's. Those components included: truck frames, traction motors, traction motor fans, fuel pumps, air compressor, cooling fans, water pumps, injectors, camshaft, auxiliary generator, main generator, alternator, air horn, speed recorder, bell, and batteries. The remanufactured parts carried a factory warranty.

Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad GP20 915 westbound at Naperville, Illinois on July 28, 1965, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in March 1961 (c/n 26586) on EMD Order 7597, it became BN 2051 and was retired in August 1985. It is seen here leading a GP35, another GP20, and an SD24 west on either Train #67, the daily Kansas City Freight, due out of Cicero at 10:00 AM, or the CD, the daily Chicago - Denver Merchandise, due out of Cicero at 10:30 AM.
