PRR 9630, L-2S, c. 1928
Here is an original photo of Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9630, an L-2S (2-8-2) "Light Mike" built by the American Locomotive Company as G.R. & I. number "111" in March of 1919, renumbered "9630" in 1921, and retired in March of 1948 after 29 years of faithful service. It's a United States Railroad Administration design. The photographer's name, the date, and the location are not recorded. Many thanks to Mr. Robert Hess for identifying this locomotive correctly. Robert Hess General I believe this was correctly captioned on the eBay listing as No 9630, one of five engines in the P.R.R. L2s class. These were USRA 'Light' 2-8-2 engines, built in March 1919. 9630 was originally GR&I class GL1s No. 111 until 1921, when it was renumbered 9630. The engine was scrapped in April 1948. 8/26/2022 2:27:46 PM
