| ALV. Here is a photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken in Downtown Altoona, Pennsylvania, in early August of 1954. Shown here is Altoona & Logan Valley Electric Railway streetcar #70. In this context, it's on 11th Avenue having just begun one of its last roundtrip runs from Altoona to Eldorado and back. The banner proclaims: "1891-1954: 63 Years of Electric Trolleys ~ Now They Go!" Looks to me, though, like no one much cares about their passing . . . alas. |
