This waiting station along the main line of the Louisville & Nashville Railroad at milepost 781 served the little community of Lake Catherine, Louisiana. This structure was erected after its predecessor was destroyed by the big Gulf Coast hurricane on 19 September 1947. This stop was within the city limits of New Orleans, 26 miles east (timetable north) of the L&N’s main station. When this photo was taken, only four of the 14 passenger trains along this line stopped here; but two of these were discontinued on 21 June 1953 and the other two made their last runs on 6 May 1964.
