Ex-PRR 1181, A-3, c. 1925
Portraits 3. Here is a steam locomotive portrait via F.R. Kern. Shown here is A.C.& F. Co. number "3," an A-3 (0-4-0) switcher built by the Pennsylvania Railroad's Altoona Machine Shops as number "1181" during May of 1903, later sold to the A.C.& F. Co. and renumbered "3," and retired in June of 1926 after 23 years of faithful service. Note the makeshift "tender"! The names of the photographer and the two railroaders pictured here, as well as the date and the location, are not recorded. (#1 of 33)
