PRR 6967, M-1, #3 of 4, 1956
MDiv. Here is the third of four successive duplicate 35mm color slides of photos by John Dziobko, Jr., that were taken near Lewistown, Pennsylvania, on 31 December 1956. Visible in the distance is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6967, an M-1 (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during December of 1926 and retired in June of 1959. It's gaining speed with a westbound mixed-cargo freight train which has just been relived of a disabled wooden reefer. Pictured with the wayward reefer is PRR engine #8572, an ES-15M built by GM-EMD in September of 1953 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. ("Stoneborobranch"; #32 of 56)
