National Railway Museum York/UK: 6229 Duchess of Hamilton in re-streamlined condition. 6229 was built in 1938 at Crewe as the tenth member of its class and the last in the second batch of five red streamliners, complete with gold speed cheat stripes. The locomotives were specifically designed for use on express services between London Euston and Glasgow Central. Their duties were to include the hauling of a non-stop express, subsequently named the Coronation Scot. |
