Here is the eighth of eight original photos that were taken by an unidentified photographer at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1957. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5825, a BH-50 built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as a BP-60 rated at 3,000 horsepower in May of 1947, later regeared and reclassified as a BH-50 rated at 2,500 horsepower, and retired in April of 1962 after just 15 years of revenue service. |
