Surprise Catch of the Day!  Contributor's Pick!
It seems every winter or spring, at least once a year; BNSF's route from Southern California to Northern California and up to Oregon and Washington; is knocked out of service. To keep the traffic flowing, BNSF sends their trains "the long way around" via the Union Pacific, up through Nevada, Utah, Idaho, then back into Oregon. On my way home from school, I spotted an eastbound detoured BNSF train in the distance. I rushed up to "The Cut" in Erda, Utah. The "Faux-bonnet" and the H1 paint schemes trailing behind the lead engine were a cool sight to see so deep in Union Pacific territory.
