We all knew the Erie semaphores were on borrowed time, as Conrail had announced they planned to single track the Tier west of Binghamton. These signals had been installed in the 1920s, and were nearing 75 years in service. The segment from River Jct to Hornell had been single tracked the previous year, and now this section from Hornell to Gang Mills was on the chopping block. We made an effort to shoot them all, as here with DABU rolling past one of the blades near MP 316. |
