The D&H main is gone  Contributor's Pick!
Conrail was engaged in a program to single track the Tier from CP River, approximately where old NT tower was on the EL-the junction of the Buffalo Sub and the River Line to Cuba Jct-east to Waverly. At the date of this photo, they had removed track 2 from River to Cass St in Hornell, unaffectionately known by crews as the "D&H Main" due to the Conrail dispatchers tendency to route those trains on the 10 MPH track, rather than on the faster track 1. DABU heads west on now the only track, seen from the NY 70 overpass east of Canaseraga, where the line had a grade separated profile.
