Former Illinois Central observation-lounge car 3305 was parked in New Orleans Uniln Passenger Terminal with some Southern Railway excursion cars. The 3305 was built by the IC in 1947, using the frame of a heavyweight coach, for service on the CITY OF NEW ORLEANS and was initially named MARDI GRAS. When this photo was taken the car was owned by the New Orleans Chapter of the National Railway"Historical Society, and it had just run on a pair of steam excursions to Hattiesburg and back the previous weekend. |
