PRR 8669 (#2 of 4), AS-18AM, 1961
Everyday. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania,?on 09 August 1961. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #8669 and #8672. Both are AS-18AM's built by the American Locomotive Company in 1958 and rated at 1,800 horsepower eoch. They are pulling a train of new hopper cars (produced by the PRR's Samuel Rea Shop) across the Jackson Street Crossing, and are on their up the New Portage Branch via the Muleshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. This photo taken from the fireman's side of PRR engine #9790, an EMD EF-15A on static display as part of Hollidaysburg's 125th Anniversary Celebration. A portion of Broad Street is also visible on the left, along with the automobile belonging to the PRR Policeman who was guarding the one-engine-and-four-cat display train. ("Red Shift" slide converted to Black & White.)
