PRR 6513, GF-25A, 1966 Editors Pick!
Horseshoe Curve-1966. Here is an original photo that I took at the Pennsylvania Railroad's Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, during mid-May of 1966. Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #6513 and #6083. #6513 is a GF-25A built by General Electric in 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #6083 is an EF-30A built by EMD in 1966 and rated at 3,000 horsepower. They are pulling a westbound mixed-cargo freight around the Horseshoe Curve and up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West.

Tom Beckett General Congrats on the editors pick, as well as the several others today. If ever there was a shot that screamed "Pennsy" in the diesel era, this is it. The only way to top this would be the same scene with one of those massive M-1's. 7/11/2016 2:28:23 AM
Fred Stuckmann General Great red ribbon shot, congrats sir. 10/2/2016 11:06:13 PM
