?? RDG 4-6-2 #108 - a Mystery  Contributor's Pick!
Although labeled on the back as RDG #108, this locomotive doesn't totally match its sisters in a number of ways, most notably the streamlining and headlight type and placement. The number board in front does look like a class G1-sa Reading and although the tender marking is unreadable, it does seem to match the height and length of others in the class. A Baltimore & Ohio unit sits behind this loco but it doesn't match any in their livery. Date is approximate. H.M. Kniffen photo. Can anyone help with this loco's true identity?

Kevin Olson General This is in fact a Reading G1sa. I believe it was the only one streamlined like this. 12/11/2013 2:21:38 PM

Eric Reinert General This is the only Pacific they streamlined for use on "The Crusader" in 1934. Very English looking to me with the headlight recessed in the smokebox. 12/11/2013 5:11:38 PM
Alan Fricker General I think I can help with the diesel on this one. The B&O had some very early EMD EA and EB units, built in 1938. They were rated at 1800hp, and the B&O had 6 As and 6 Bs. The photo on page EMD-118 of the Second Diesel Spotter's Guide shows a unit in this scheme. They were numbered in the 51-56 series. Hope this helps. 12/11/2013 8:02:13 PM
