| A proud crew takes a moment to pose for the unknown photographer. This 1500 hp unit was delivered by EMD on10/1953 (serial number 18748) and worked switching for Reading. After the bankrupcy/merger, it continued as first Conrail #5835, then renumbered to #5439. In 1978, it was rebuilt to a GP8. It was finally retired 4/11/91 and sold to Midwesat Metallics for scrap in 1996. Date is approximate. |
