Great shot depicting the early days of Conrail, when it was "do the best ya can with what ya got." I'm really enjoying this album. While mosly roster shots-which are pretty interesting from a vantage point 35 years later-the action photos are a treat. As crazy as it was in the early days, when they were still trying to make sense of cobbling together six major roads into some kind of coherent system, the power was a wonderful mix of first and second generation units, including a lot of oddballs. It really brought back memories to see EL E's in the scrap lines, and ex PRR RS 27's.
