Amtrak 7531 was half of a 92-seat articulated coach built by Pullman-Standard in 1941 as Southern Pacific 2468. The other half was AMTK 7530/SP 2467. Originally passed up by Amtrak, the carrier bought six pairs of these in 1973 to address a serious equipment shortage; but they didn’t last long. All were retired in 1976 and 1977. Notice that the car still rode on its original triple-bolster trucks. (approximate month) |
