NS No. 193
Norfolk Southern No. 193, the run-through train from Birmingham to the Espee at New Orleans, sits on the NS BACK BELT at the Marconi Drive overpass. The train is waiting for a clear route through East Bridge Junction and onto the Huey P. Long Bridge, about five miles ahead. The locomotives are SP SD45T-2 9309 with VMV SDP45's 6688 and 6689. The VMV units still wear the blue paint of their former owner Conrail, and originally belonged to the Erie-Lackawanna. The 6688 was rebuilt with SD45-2 radiators after an accident.
