| This view looks south from the Louisiana Highway 36 overpass along the Illinois Central Gulf. The accident was caused by someone tampering with the switch into a siding with stored cars. The track on the left had been the main line of the Gulf Mobile & Ohio between Slidell and Bogalusa, and was abandoned by the Illinois Central in January 1994. |
