Yes, in terms of horsepower there are certainly bigger locomotives now, but UP's fleet of twin-diesel, 8-axle force of the '60s and '70s had a presence and impact that is couldn't be denied. UP DD35A 84 leads a train southbound out of Salt Lake City in July 1976; behind 84 is DDA-40X 6945, "Fast Forty" SD40-2 8032 and another Centennial, 6933.
