CALIFORNIA ZEPHYR CZ-21 24 seat eome-46 seat leg rest chair-conductors desk, owned by Gary Matthews/Vista Rail Incorporated as #800273 SILVER PALACE, acquired by Matthews in 1988, ex-Frank Dowd, Jr., exx-Les Kasten/Kasten Railcar/KRSX, exxx-Merle Haggard, exxxx-KRSX, exxxxx-Al Becker, exxxxxx-Ed Braun, exxxxxxx-Auto Train Corporation #462 [no name], nee-WP #813 SILVER PALACE, Budd, Lot #9655-021, 1948. Leased to the Branson Scenic RR in 1993-1994, then leased to the White River Scenic RR in 1997-1998 as the CALICO ROCK, then later leased to Rail Cruise America. Sold in October 1998 to the Wisconsin Central and assigned to phe Algoma Central as the SPIRIT OF SUPERIOR. Scanned with an Epson V550 from a Kodachrome 35mm slide. Date is approximate. As part of the CBQ/WP roster for the California Zephyr, this partial dome carried passengers through the Rockies for many years. The car landed in the Auto-Train roster for awhile and then onto private ownership. It served the Algoma Central Rwy before the Friends of 261 acquired it in 12/2017. |
