Louisville & Nashville Railroad caboose 6153 and 6213 westbound on Train 108 at Madison, Georgia on February 25, 1983, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Number 6153 was the road caboose and 6213 was passenger accommodations. This was one of the last mixed trains on a Class One railroad in the USA at the time of the photo. I rode Train 103 ( the eastbound mixed ) out to Union Point, where we met Train 108, which I boarded for the return trip to Atlanta. I was fortunate to have friendly crews on both trains, so the passenger accommodations were irrelevant to me as I was invited to ride with the rear end crew in both directions. |
