Title:
CO 4-6-4 #300 - Chesapeake & Ohio
Description:
Built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in December of 1948 (serial #64135), the white sidewalls make it look sharper than most 4-6-4 Hudsons. A note on the back of the photo states "C&O L-2 #300 on radial track at Cincinnati Union Terminal Feb 13, 1953; 1:45PM (probably protection for diesels)." #300 had roller bearings on its side and main rods as well and was also unique in that it had Union Pacific style "elephant ear" smoke deflecters applied some time around 1948 but are not present by 1953 for this photo. It was one of only two C&O locomotives to recieve this modification. The L-2 was rated to pull a fifteen-car train at 90 mph (145 kph) on tangent level track. R.R. Malinoski photo

CO 4-6-4 #303
Description:
When compared to the strikingly sharp streamlined 4-6-4 C&O Hudsons, this 1942 Baldwin built Hudson appears as an ugly, old sister although still sharp with its whitewalls and striped running board. Built by Baldwin in 1942, it was a dependable loco. Specifics - L-2 class, 78" drivers, impressive 255 psi boiler pressure. 25x30" cylinders, engine weight of 439,500 lb, tractive effort of 52,103 lb. Unknown photographer

CO 4-6-4 #304 - Chesapeake & Ohio
Description:
Since nothing was marked on the back of the photo but the photo credit P.C. Studios, this may be a photo of #304 being built by Baldwin in 1941. Can anyone shed some light on whether this would be at the Eddystone plant as I arbitrarily have chosen to list it?
