PRR 6027, EF-25A, 1966 |
Description: |
Winter Day. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Altoona, Pennsylvania, during February of 1966. Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #6027, #6506, and #6026. All were built in 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower each. #6027 and #6026 are EF-25A's built by EMD, but #6506 is a GF-25A built by General Electric. They are about to pass under the 4th Street Bridge and into the Eastbound Receiving Yard with a fully-loaded coal train. Visible in the distance is the 7th Street Bridge. The venerable black water tower ~ last vestige of the Age of Steam in this part of town ~ stands guard on the right. |
