Description:  Another of the "Mountain" type locomotives built by Baldwin in 1941 for the Boston & Maine. Besides the number, each carried a nickname determined by a public contest. The winning name for #4144 was "Invincible". Here it sits in the Rigby Yard in Portland. Not the "centipede" wheeled tender! Specifics - class R-1, 73" drivers, 240 psi boiler pressure, 28"x31" cylinders, engine weight of 416,100 lb, tractive effort of 67,918 lb. Eventually the loco was retired between 1955-56. Description:  Nice action photo of the 1941 Baldwin built 4-8-2 #4114. A note on the back of the photo states "leaving Haverhill, Mass. for Portland, ME. 1943." The loco was built by Baldiwn in June of 1941 but only served for 14 years before being scrapped in September of 1955. Rail Photo credit.
