This appears to be a reprint from the 1940-50's era of a 1915 photograph possibly done by K.E. Schlachter of a 1915 photograph. The locomotive was built in 1900 by the Manchester Locomotive Works just before the formation of the American Locomotive Works (Alco). This American-type locomoitve was originally numbered 633. This loco was used most often in suburban service out of Boston's North Station. Specifics - class A-41, 69" drivers, 18x24" cylinders, respectable 190 psi boiler pressure, 18,200 lb tractive effort, engine weight of 115.00 lbs. |
