Despite doing an LSL chase the day before, I had promised a buddy a couple weeks back that we would do an LSL chase, and I wasnt going to break my promise (even though I was hesitant on doing it). We originally were going to chase the RJ Corman into Lima and then follow the LSL, but that didnt pan out as planned, which gave us more than enough time to get some CSX action on the south side of Lima. We started off the day in Botkins, grabbing a long M507 struggling up Botkins Hill by the grain elevator. |

While coming into Lima, we heard the LSL receive a track warrant to head south toward Tremont City. Traffic didnt allow us to get to the searchlights at Ford Park Yard, so we settled for our first shot at. North Street just south of the Sugar Street diamond with the CF&E. To my relief, a red unit was the leader. If it wouldve been an orange leader, I would have probably had to tell my buddy wed chase it another day! |

And just like that the chase southbound portion of the chase was over, and we prepped to shoot the northbound. The same power from yesterdays LSL (minus the OHCR 4023 of course) is the power for the northbound. Not sure why they would drop the OHCR 4023 considering it was the last unit in the consist facing north yesterday. Our interest in the train had dropped significantly, but we still planned to shoot it some. The LSL flops trains with the WCH-B crew at Tremont. |

After M310 the Indy Line died down, but with the help of some friends back in Indiana we did know we had another eastbound coming our direction, which I wanted to shoot on the Big 4 concrete bridge that spans the Miami River in Sidney. Due to there being very few grade crossings on both the Indy Line and the Toledo Sub near where the two cross, we were stabbed by a southbound on the Toledo Sub while waiting, and we made chase down to Kirkwood where we got some throw away shots of CSX M561 by the intermediate signal there. |

While eating at Captain Ds we could hear a southbound going through as we were finishing. We got right back onto the road and saw the tail end of the very short train, which we conferred was the Y204 yard job from Lima coming down to work Pratt Paper south of town. Sure enough we were right, and we were able to pick up some shots of the train working the industry under some great evening light with giant thunderstorm clouds looming in the background (some of those storms were tornado warned). This was the first time I was able to pick up shots of this train working Pratt Paper, as it is usually done at night. Couldnt have asked for a better way to close the day. Another well spent day trackside in Ohio! |
