The one that got away |
Description: |
Appears a gond got away at a local scrap iron company. I don't know if the scrap company or the railroad is at fault here but obviously the pile of dirt at the end of the track met it's match. This view is looking east toward Albany GA on the former CofG. |

The Bayline switcher is waiting to take several loads off the arriving Chattahoochee Bay local. We are looking east toward Albany GA on the former CofG. The line going off to the right in the photo just in front of the Bayline units goes to the Bayline yard. The crossing in the foreground (bottom of pic) is trackage going from the Bayline yard to the CSX interchange. |

Chattahoochee Bay local |
Description: |
The Chattahoochee Bay local is seen in Columbia in the late afternoon sun. They are enroute to Dothan on the old CofG mainline. Cars visible in the distance are parked in the old Alabama Power yard that served the Farley Nuclear plant. There is a track that runs from this small yard to the plant, a distance of about 6 miles. The track to the plant is rarely used these days except to store cars on. |

Cinder loading??? |
Description: |
Whats up with this?? I caught this on a passing train in Hilton GA. A hold over from the steam days?? Perhaps used to move cinders?? Or was this car used for some other specialized duty at one time. When I saw it, it was loaded with wood chips as it is a chip hopper. I thought it might be someone playing a joke, and still could be, but it does look rather "official" placed where it is. Any ideas??? |

Chattahoochee Bay power |
Description: |
Chattahoochee Bay power rests at the CIRR shops in Cedar Springs. It is my understanding that the CIRR does routine maintenance and fueling for the CHAT units. |
