Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5351, a K-4S built in Juniata during March of 1924 and retired in April of 1958 after 34 years of service. It was the last PRR steam locomotive to pull a regularly-scheduled passenger run: Pemberton to Camden on Tuesday, 12 November 1957. Slide produced and distributed by Americana Slides of Cupertino, CA.

Coal Power. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide that was taken in South Amboy, New Jersey, c. 1957. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #3747 and #5753. #3747 is a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during March of 1920 and retired in November of 1957. #5753 is an AFP-20 built by the American Locomotive Company in October of 1947, rated at 2,000 horsepower, and retired in September of 1962. The photographer's name and the exact date are not recorded.

Coal Power. Here is an original 35mm color slide (converted to B&W) by D.R. McCulloch that was taken in Camden, New Jersey, on 3 September 1957. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #1777, #784, #5379, #3747, and #6391. #1777 is an H-9S (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an H-8B during January of 1911, rebuilt in Juniata as an H-9S in August of 1916, and retired in October of 1958. #784 is an H-9S (2-8-0) "Condoslidated" built in Juniata as an H-8B and numbered "304" during May of 1911, rebuilt in Juniata as an H-9S and renumbered "5372" in 1918, renumbered "784" in 1921, and retired in October of 1958. #5379 is a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during June of 1924 and retired in April of 1958. Barely visible just to the right of center is #3747, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during March of 1920 and retired in November of 1957. And #6391 is a B-6SB (0-6-0) switcher built in Juniata during December of 1926 and retired in April of 1958.

Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4514, an I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapod" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an I-1S during August of 1923, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in February of 1949, and retired in October of 1959 after 36 years of faithful service. Note that its main driving rods have been removed and, as such, could be part of a "Graveyard Train." The photographer's name, the pedigree of the New York Central diesel pictured at the far right, as well as the exact date and the location, are not recorded. Produced and distributed by FJC Products of Newport, Delaware.

PRR Graveyard Train, 1959
Description:
Coal Power. Here is a photo that was published in David W. Seidel's 2008 book entitled "Images Of Rail: Horseshoe Curve," page 63. The photographer is not identified. Photo Caption: "The Altoona Mirror, on August 28, 1959, reported on this 'Graveyard Train': 'A solid train of 15 old Pennsylvania Railroad [I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapod"] steam locomotives [are shown here] moving around the famed Horseshoe Curve near Altoona. The engines, representing 3,211 tons of metal, were en route from Altoona to a Midwestern steel mill to be cut up for scrap. The Pennsy, which once owned as many as 7,630 steam engines, became completely dieselized or electrified more than two years ago.'" Perhaps K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" #1361 ~ enshrined at the Curve's apex ~ offers a farewell salute as its retired brethren pass in review!
