Description:  The formation of the Seaboard System in the early '80s led to an influx of 'off line' power on the former L&N as units from the SCL and Georgia Group started making frequent appearances into places like Pensacola. Here A&WP 731 leads a trio of SCL GP40s (1509, 1525, 1633) an an eastbound out of Goulding Yard in Feb 1983. 731 is 13 years old as of this picture; it would subsequently become SBD and CSXT 6651 and is reported as being off the roster and scrapped.

L&N GP9 in French Gray
Title:  L&N GP9 in French Gray
Description:  L&N GP9 2392 sits at the Goulding Yard engine facility in Pensacola. It's orginal number was L&N 516; it later became SBD 2392. This unit was part of an order for eight boiler-equipped GP9s bought in 1956. Originally equipped with "torpedo tube" air tanks on the roof, the road obviously modifed some when the S/G came out and the air tanks were moved under the frame in the space previously occupied by the water tanks.

Title:  SBD U23B 2707
Description:  When the Seaboard System assumed the L&N in January 1983 in many cases it simply painted out the reporting marks on units and kept the number. This U23B is the former L&N 2707, itself builit as Monon 608. It only kept its identity as SBD 2707 for a short period before being renumbered as SBD 3237 and, finally, as CSXT 3237. It was retired in 5/91 and scrapped.
