Hilton and Albany regular power and NS coal train power
Title:  Hilton and Albany regular power and NS coal train power
Description:  The HAL's regular power sits in the passing track as power from a coal train sits tied down behind it. The Hilton and Albany RR crew brought down a coal train for the CIRR then returned to Albany via pick up truck to get another coal train....this one destined for the paper mill at Panama City FL. They made it back about nightfall and tied down for the night. The next day a crew got the Panama City coal train and used the NS power all the way to Panama City.

Description:  GWI's newest addition to the stable is the Hilton and Albany RR, operating over former CofG/SOU/NS trackage between it's namesake towns. They recently added this "depot" at Hilton to be used as their offices for this operation. I am looking toward Dothan AL in this photo.

Hilton and Albany RR office
Title:  Hilton and Albany RR office
Description:  The new offices of the Hilton and Albany RR are seen in this photo. Barely visible in the background just to the right of the tall pine tree is the remnants of the old Hilton post office. At one time a peanut shelling plant sat just to the left of the post office and a grist mill to the right of it. The last remnant of the post office is all that is left except for the foundations of the other 2.

Description:  NS power used to bring down a coal train is seen resting in the passing track at Hilton. GWI's latest road, the Hilton and Albany Railroad, now operates this section of former CofG/SOU/NS trackage but coal trains to Cedar Springs and Panama City still use NS power.

Odd looking Bayline local
Title:  Odd looking Bayline local
Description:  Yep...thats a locomotive on each end. And no the Bayline has not gone to using DPU's on the Abbeville branch. I caught them late but I am pretty sure this set up was so they could switch the peanut mill in Headland northbound. This would be due to the way the switch to the peanut mill lays.

Title:  Odd visitor
Description:  A somewhat odd visitor in seen in the Bayline yard in Dothan AL. Razor wire and ominous signs are indicative of the rough area this photo was taken in. Numerous incidents of vandalism have prompted the Bayline to take extreme measures in order to try and avoid future problems. In this part of Dothan....Good luck.
